Smoking a cigar is like building a business
I like smoking cigars.
I don't smoke anything else—weed, cigarettes, vapes, etc.
But I do like to relax with a good cigar.
My favorite one is The Blueprint by The Burn Down Podcast. Definitely check it out.
So there's actually an intriguing correlation between smoking a cigar and running a business.
When you're smoking a cigar, it can go out a lot. This could be for a variety of reasons.
You may stop smoking, it could have a bad draw, etc.
But there is actually a cool hack you can do to relight what appears to be a dead cigar.
Simply blow into the cigar instead of puffing air through.
This will actually relight the cigar without the need for a lighter, I tried it and it works like a charm.
So how does this correlate with business?
Sometimes in business it feels like you're doing everything right, but you just can't make anything stick.
Sometimes all you need to do is change direction.
This happened to me.
In 2020 I started Fitr Media.
But it was then an uphill battle the entire time for the next 2-3 years. Some months we closed a lot of deals, and no lie some months we closed nothing.
It wasn't until early in 2023 when we launched a new service that generated monthly reocurring revenue.
Now, revenue was consistent.
It was easier to plan for the future.
I had less stress.
And all it took was slightly changing direction.
But it's impossible to change direction if you don't know what direction to change to, especially in business, but this book helped me with that.
In my opinion it's one of the best books out there. It completely changed the way I think.
Until next time,
